Aziz Memon became the President of United Memon Jamat in November 2016. UMJP is a non-governmental organization founded in the year 1981 with the aims and objectives of promoting welfare activities, community development and helping the underprivileged members of the society and of the Memon community in particular.
Keeping this future vision in mind Mr. Memon has established an UMJP-Endowment Fund and in record time donations crossed PKR 2.5 million. During the holy month of Ramzan Zakat donation crossed the figure of PKR 10 million which is the highest in history of UMJP.
Established in 1981, UMJP now has a widespread network all over Sindh in the form of 35 affiliated Jamats of Memon Community. The activities of the community are diversified but mainly focus on providing medical and educational assistance to the poor.
UMJP utilizes these funds to help the poor community in shape of distribution of Ration and Eid Packages, run their Projects for medical sector including organizing Free T.B and Hepatitis clinics, Eye Camps, Cardiac Camps and Physiological & Mental Treatment Camp.
The Jamat not only provides consultation at such camps but patients are provided free medicines, routine tests and X-rays and those requiring specialized treatment are treated by the best facility providers.
The group’s activities in the educational sector include providing scholarships, setting up vocational training centres, establishment computer centres and providing of salaries to teachers of schools run by UMJP.
